They go together like Oil and Vinagar.

I was out treasure hunting yesterday, hitting the usual haunts.  I was mostly looking for beautiful clothing pieces to list on eBay (when the limit is lifted from my account...got about 27 days to go, I think...uhggg) but I also found some goodies while I was out. 

 I found these cute little Pyrex Oil and Vinegar bottles.  They are just about perfect with all the letters and gold scrollies.

 I love the fancy way they have "vinegar" and "oil" written.

And, of course, I love they are "Made in the USA"

Does anyone know if they have stoppers or some kind of top that might be missing?

I also found a Pyrex measuring cup.  I do not know how "vintage" this is but it says nothing on it about being "microwave safe"....LOL...so I am hopeful ~shrug~.  As you can see it is the one with red letters, a number 516.  A very much needed item for my kitchen.  I had "new measuring cups" on my grocery list since the Hubbie used the old ones to work in the back yard (???!!!???).

eBay Report For March

As I have mentioned more than a few times, I started selling on eBay.  Mostly mid level clothing, nothing too high end (yet!!!!)...hings like Lane Bryant, Torrid, Talbots, Ralph Lauren, Ann Taylor, Ann Klein, Chico's, Eileen Fisher, Bebe, Miss Me...etc etc.  I think those on the eBay boards call these "bread and butter" items, meaning they are easy to find and easy to sell.  These have been constant sellers for me in March.

I love to shop so this has been a lot of fun...either shopping clearance racks, thrift stores, or my own "too big" clothing stash.  I even sold a few VERY large ladies shoes that belonged to a cross-dresser I knew...ha ha.

I have no idea how much I spent when buying things from the thrifts, but I wrote some of the things down so I could have an estimate...

 109.41 purchases and 62.51 in eBay fees...and figured out how much difference is in my paypal from my ebay...bla bla bla.  I am not good in math at all and in no way a good business person....but I think I made about 306.47.  That is not bad at all...esp considering alot of my items have not sold.  LOL.  I made this on 42 items so that means I averaged a little over 7 bucks an item profit.  I might have all this mixed up...whatever.  I made some change for my pockets...LOL.  I need to find an accounting system that I can keep up with and understand.  I think I did pretty good for my first month of not knowing what I am doing....donchathink?

(I had to list this TWICE...I would have snagged it up on the first go around...)

Saw this Torrid skirt at Goodwill and past it up on 2 separate visits...no size tag.  I spotted it on visit 3 and it was half off, so I paid 1.50 for it.  It sold for 12.50

Another lovely from Bebe.  Paid 2.99 and it sold for 20.49.  I also sold an adorable Bebe black pencil skirt, found for 1.00 and sold for  12.99.  LOVE BEBE!!!!



J.Jill Wool NWT skirt...found for 2.99 (and it might have been half of that, I do not remember...).  I took a chance at listing this one HIGH at 29.99 with Free Shipping....AND. IT. SOLD!!!!

 I had a few disappointments, as well.  First....I sold an adorable lime green Venezia tunic shirt that I had in my own stash...I remember wearing it once...MAYBE twice.  Sent it off and got an email from the buyer that there were spots on it.  I KNOW I checked it several times....but that one got past me.  So it came back home.

I also listed these items and they did not sell....some things I would love to wear if they fit me...

I have listed this blue label Ralph Lauren skirt a few times with no bids.  It is such a classic piece that I just knew there would be a bidding way over it.  LOL.

And this super cute Ann Taylor tan striped skirt.  It is a size 6 and just sat there both times it was listed...while it's less attractive cousin, another Ann Taylor tan skirt sold.  Who knew?

Thrifty Aloha!!!!

Since Valentine's Day is past, I can post some of the Aloha shirts I found.  I keep an eye out for these because David LOVES them and has quiet a collection.  I found a few that I picked up for his Valentine's Gift.

 This is our absolute favorite.   He wore this Friday and has designated the end of the week "Aloha Friday" after the popular song.

 It is a silk blend.  The red is very vibrant and the pattern is gorgeous.

 This one is a very large shirt.  It was half price so I picked it up as an experiment.  I am going to try to make a mini shirt dress out of it and use it this summer for an "after the water park" outfit to go over my swim suit.  I often have errands to run or we might stop for a bite to eat when we leave the park.

 This one looks so nice with David's blue eyes.

 I do not see many black Aloha shirts so I picked this one up as soon as I saw it was the desired size.

 I love the lounging lady.  How sexy!!!!

 This is actually blue, although it looks black in this photo.

 And the old surfer car is adorable.

 I picked these up for a party we are planning for the summer.

I do not know anything about the signature on the bottom.  I think they were made for tourist shops.

What am I wearing? Red and White Pokadots

 I. Love. This. Dress!!!!  I saw it at a second hand shop and loved it right away but it was way too big.  So...I left it behind, this was right after Thanksgiving, I believe.  Well I was in the area a few weeks ago and the dress was STILL there!!!!  I think the fact that it was marked at a really large size and not in the plus size area was one reason...or the fact that it was MARKED a larger size than it actually was.  That fact made me leave it behind once.  Well since it was still there, I decided to try it on.  It was pretty big on me and kind of shaped like a big ole sack, but I saw potential.  It was about 10 bucks, much more than I would pay at a second hand shop on a dress that MIGHT have potential.  The plan was to alter, add a belt, and .....here ya have it.  The perfect housedress for winter, with a sweater...and spring without a sweater.  I think I might could even dress it up with stockings and heels...maybe?

I love the "shirt dress" look.  The collar looks great with a sweater.

Dress: second hand and altered
Belt:  just plain old from my wardrobe (it has a silver western buckle and rhinestones)
Shoes:  vintage loafers by Etienne Aigner
Sox:  Polo by Ralph Lauren (totally do not go with the outfit but since cleaning out my sox drawer they are about all I got...LOL
Sweater:  I think from Macy's?  a staple in my wardrobe.

Please excuse the "no make-up" look.  My skin has been extra dry the last few weeks and make-up did not help.  We brought the humidifier out and that has helped a bit.

Speaking of "shoes", I have found these Etienne Aigner to be a very good choice.  I found out about them from one of the residents at the Assisted Living community where I used to work.  This woman said that they were her choice for comfort that still looked good.  She was a busy department store window designer, on her feet all the time (when she was younger) so I took her word for it and found a pair.  She tried to give me a few pairs from her closet but they were not my size and accepting gifts was a reason to fire someone...so I had to respectfully decline.

Here are a few pairs I have my eyes on...they are new but have the classic look.

 

I appreciate how these shoes have slip resistant soles.  This is why they were rather popular around the retirement community.  I have a few pairs of Bass loafers that are so slippery when walking on wood or wet pavement rocks.  Also, the soles are well made and of durable material, unlike my Cole Haan shoes that wore out so fast (and they are so pricey!!!!).  They also have a very classic look to them, another reason for their popularity among the retired ladies.

Recycle an Old Child Sized Sweater into Dog Couture!!!!

Goodwill was having an "all orange tags" sale day which made this cute little snowflake sweater 1.00.  I had an idea...and for 1.00 and this cute sweater, I could not pass up the chance to see if I could make it work.

Dixie Lee has outgrown all but ONE of her little doggie sweaters.  She is getting to be quiet the chubster in her golden years.  With the bad weather we have been experiencing in Texas her cute little pink sweater was not cutting it...this old gal likes to play and roll around to get her "scent" on things and the sweater was always dirty.  She needed more in her wardrobe, plus a gal likes variety.

I took the cute snowflake sweater, cut off the arms, hemmed the armholes, and cut a little slit at the neckline, on the back.  I wanted the snowflakes to be on HER back but this was made to be on a CHILD's front, so I did a wee adjustment and turned this cutie around.  I also had to make an adjustment at the bottom so her girlie parts had freedom...to not make a mess of the bottom of the sweater.

Why pay 20 bucks for Doggie Couture?  Recycle a cute child's sweater!!!!

Thrifting for pretty shiney things...WATERFORD CRYSTAL!!!!

I love shiny cut crystal and am lucky enough to have quiet a collection.  What I collect is Waterford.  Waterford table ware and a vast collection of vases.

Some I have received as gifts over the years and some we got as wedding gifts....but the ones that make me giddy are when I find them at rock bottom thrift prices.

I found the two salt shakers at an Estate Sale and paid 2 bucks for the pair.  Can you beleive the PROFESSIONAL estate sale company only marked these at 2.00???  I knew, off hand, that I was getting a deal but when I got home I looked these up online.  They still sell these at Neiman Marcus for 145.00!!!

 The Waterford Ring Dish was found at a Thrift Store and was 2.75.  I really do not need another ring dish but went ahead and bought it because it matches my Waterford vanity clock (another thrifty find about 10 years ago)..and really?  For 2.75, why not?  I looked this up, too and found it at Macy's for 65.00!!!!

 Waterford Crystal is always marked on the bottom (or on the bottom edge) with the "Waterford" mark.  You can not find it easily on older pieces but if you look very close, with squinted eyes, you will most likely see it etched in the crystal.  Also, most the the designs are well known and heavy.  If it is heavy and a good price, I would pick it up weather it was marked or not....good crystal and good crystal, ya know?

Hard to see in the photos but the smudge on the center upper part of the piece is the mark.
