Fun Spellbinder Giveaway on Northridge Publishing's Blog

Just in time for the Holidays!!! Northridge Publishing is having giveaways on their blog and today you can win a set of SPELLBINDERS. Now I will warn you, if you do not yet own any of these....they are addictive. I held off buying them for so long but when I won a GRAND CALIBUR die cutting machine from a Micheal's grand opening this summer...well I had to give in. It would have been rude if I didn't, right? Now here is a chance for me (and all of you) to add to / start a collection.

Stampers Best

I just got my order from Stampers Best!!! OMG I am in LOVE with their stamps and already have another "wish list" started. A local scrapbooking group, that I have started cropping with, and I all put our orders together so that we could qualify for free shipping. You get the shipping discount with an order of 35.00 or more...the thing is, their stamps are sooooo inexpensive that it is kinda hard to get your total high enough to qualify. Oh well...their stamps are totally worth the shipping charge if you have to pay it. Anyway...here is what we got:
I can not wait to play with my stamps. I will be sure to post my projects, too. If you are interested in placing an order, be sure to use the special coupon code GIRLIEGIRL when you check out. You will get a 10% discount (and I get a small incentive for sharing the site to use on my next purchase). Thanks, Tiffany

Happy Rosh Hashanah...A Sweet New Year!!!!

David made his scrumptious homemade chicken matza ball soup and then we had a wonderful dinner of roasted chicken, rice, brussel sprouts, and of course Challah w/ raisins, apples and honey.  I am stuffed to the gills.

I love to make little decorations for all of our special meals and holidays.  Right now I am LOVING banners.  They are so fun to make and look so cute.

Here is the Banner I made for Rosh Hashanah

Please excuse my kitchen with "dinner in progress mess" in the background. LOL

I did nnot know how I was going to make something to respresent honey...I could not fine a die anywhere....so I just used my new Ball Jar stamp that I got at Michael's last week, my Copics, and made a honey jar.  For the bee, I just hot glued some buttons and ribbon together.  I think it turned out much better than a die cut.  I love it when creative desperation works out in my favor.

Hoping you have a happy and sweet year to come...

Spooktacular Halloween Cards

When the weather gets cool...I get crafty.  It's dreary and rainy outside and it got too cold for the water park (eh I think that fun is over for the year) so my creative juices were in over drive keeping my busy.

Here are some cute Halloween cards I made...most of the supplies are just things sitting in my craft room from the last few years.  I would love to go out and purchase all the new yummie seasonal things but then what would I do with all this I already have?  I am not saying I will not go out and eventually buy a new things or five...but this project was about using what I already have...

BOO!!!!

Dog Days of Summer Swim on....

We had a great Labor Day Weekend!!!!  We spent most of the weekend just relaxing at home since David had spent last week away on a business trip to California.  However, on Sunday we went to my Mama's house for some chillaxin in the pool.  AJ and Tati (my brother and sister in law) showed up with a suprise....GABE!!!! (my brother Boston Terrier)

He ran into Mimi's living room like a bat outta hell.  And I don't think he settled down the entire time he was there.  No bother, we are used to a hyper dog, living with Dixie Lee for almost 14 years gave us good training.

AJ grilled a Tri Tip Roast with veggies for lunch.  OMG was that GOOD!!!!  After letting lunch settle, we jumped in the pool.

Even Gabe went swimming...

This didn't just HAPPEN....it took alot of coaxing to get him in the water.  It was cute...he wanted so bad to be in the pool, esp when Tati got in.  He just wanted to be part of the fun.

All that doggie peddling sure took it's toll....
He was worn OUT!!!!

How about a pic nic at the beach?

Or just go to the beach to lay around...

Homemade Laundry Products

Try Homemade Laundry Products

Front-loading clothes washers are designed to use High Efficiency detergent, which means you can use a lot less per load. (Regular detergent will create too much suds, and prevent proper rinsing.) But beyond detergent, you don't need many of the ancillary products sold for laundry. Here are some low-cost natural alternatives to try:
Stain Removers: Before washing, try soaking the stain with water mixed with Borax, lemon juice, hydrogen peroxide or white vinegar, writes Dr. Alan Greene. You'd be wise to be as careful as you would using bleach to avoid discoloration, but you won't have to worry about the unhealthy fumes from chlorine.
Bleach Alternative: Add a half cup of lemon juice to the rinse cycle of a medium load of whites, according to Annie B. Bond's Home Enlightenment. Or, try a half cup of Borax.
Fabric Softeners: Add a quarter cup of baking soda to the wash cycle, Greene recommends.
Color Brightener: Toss a capful of vinegar in with the detergent, writes Michael DeJong, author of Clean: The Humble Art of Zen-Cleansing.
Static Cling: To fight static cling, a quarter cup of white vinegar in the washer should help, Greene says.

Fabric Refresher: In between washes, freshen your clothing with a spritz of dilute vodka. The smell will dissipate, green living expert Brian Clark Howard says, and your clothes will be ready for another day out.

Gettin' All Dolled-Up with a Product Review: Got2Be Volumizing Powder

Oh boy have a got a fun and fabulous product to tell you gals about.  If you like big hair, THIS is the product for YOU.

Here's the scoop...In this past weeks Smart Source Coupon insert there was a coupon for Got2Be Hair Styling Products.  Now this line has been on the shelves at Walgreen's, CVS, etc for quiet some time but I never gave it much thought.  It is rather pricey for a drugstore hair product being close to $7.00, normal price.  If this was a line of specialty or salon products there would be no problem with the price or even double / triple that price...it is just how the brain THINKS of such things.  With the coupon, a 3.00 off 1 product the price is a little more of a "I want to try this stuff" price....but wait...it gets much better.  Walgreen's has a month long sale of BOGO (buy one get one) FREE...AND you can use a coupon on both the "buy one" and the "get one free"....can ya add that up ladies?  That would make BOTH FREE!!!! and I know we all love FREE!!!!

I bought several of the different varieties as I have quiet a few coupons.  I am planning on trying all of these and posting a short review on each...but today I will start with my FAVORITE (so far).

Here is my before shot (please be kind...LOL)

Pretty flat, huh?
Ok, here is what I did.  I took the little shaker of powder and started sprinkling lightly at the roots.  I started out very easy because I had no idea what the end result would be.  After sprinkling, what I considered "enough" (YMMV) I fluffed my hair and here is the result...
MUCH more volume but rather "fly away" or "I just rolled outta bed from doing something FUN" (a look the Hubbie rather likes but not good to be out and about with).  So I proceeded with my "fixin my hair routine" and came out l this....

It was actually MUCH higher at the crown but the Hubbie said that I looked like Snookie from the Jersey Shore so I tamed it down.  When I woke up the next morning it STILL looked good so I just skipped washing it and went on with my day.  I think the powder absorbs some of the oils.

Since I had quiet a few coupons I went out and bought more of this powder to have in my beauty supple stockpile.  This will definitely be a staple in my routine.

Happy Homemaking,
