Saying good bye, FINALLY to my unlucky jeans!!!!!

A few years ago...ok..more than a FEW...I bought these CUTE capri jeans from Lane Bryant.

These took awhile to sell which boggles my mind because I think they are so cute.  I just love the brocade and sequins on the cuffs.  That is why "I" bought them in the first place.  And the top was thrown in as a bonus.    They finally sold, are packed up, and on their way to their new home. 

Do you ever have an outfit that brings back memories?  More than your wedding dress....of course THAT will bring back memories (hopefully good!!!!).  I have several...and this one is one of BAD MEMORIES...so good riddance to it.  LOL. 

I always called this my "unlucky" outfit.  I wore it twice and both times was a "not fun" day.  The first time was when I worked as a nanny for this real creep of a woman over in Willow Bend in Plano.  I wore this outfit when she and I had a pretty big disagreement on why I was hired.  I believe this was my very last day working for her because I did not work for a week then we parted ways.  Not that leaving that job was a bad thing, the children were mostly spoiled and the mom, like I said, was a creep and really hired me to hang out with her...long story...never mind.  Anyway...the day was bad but the ending pretty good.

The next time I wore it was many years later....while I was an Activity and Event Planner for a Retirement community.  This day's story was kind of funny.  I had returned to the community with party supplies and as I turned into the driveway, I ran into the UPS truck.  I really did not hit it that hard, I thought...but OUT STORMS the driver from the back of the truck.  He marches into the building and demands to speak to my boss.  He proceeds to tattle on me and tells her that I barreled into his truck, while he was in the back.  He goes on to describe a scene of him falling over and packages tumbling all around and on his head.  He is very dramatic about this and my boss just busts out laughing.  I followed him into the building to make sure he is ok and apologise...I was pretty scared as this was the first time I had any kind of "on the job" accident.  I knew HE was fine because he was walking and acting a fool.  But he was so mad and got even madder cause my boss laughed at him.  What made this day really bad was I had to go to Concentra medical center and wait for HOURS to get a drug test. 

Earlier that day my boss had told me how cute she thought my outfit was and I told her the story of my fight a few years prior with my ex boss.  And how I had forgotten about the outfit until that morning when looking for something to wear.  So after THIS incident she decided that it was my UNLUCKY outfit.

Now fast forward to today...after the bad luck...sitting in a box for years...being out grown...now too big...being put out for a garage sale....taken to a resell shop...and listed on Craig's list and eBay several times...It FINALLY found a new home.  But before I packed this cute but weird in luck outfit up for shipment...it tried to redeem it's self.  I stuck my hand deep into the pocket and pulled out TWO rumpled 20 dollar bills.  JUST before sending it to my buyer.

Ok...I am pretty cheap so I got very excited about this find.  With this and the profit I made from the sell, I am pretty happy.  I might just go over to my ex bosses house (the creep) and give it to her so she can buy a clue on how to treat her nannies.

Whooo Hooo it's Laundry Day

I have not posted anything for Laundry Day in a very long time.  The hubbie and I have been just wearing stinkie dirty clothes, so I did not see the need to post about NOT doing the laundry.  Ha ha...just kidding.  I HAVE to do the laundry on Mondays or we sure would stink in the HOT TEXAS SWEATING HEAT!!!!  Oh boy, it is HOT in Texas.  It reaches 100 by 10am, it seems.  I have to make Dixie Lee come inside so her old bones do not melt.


Anyway....back to laundry day.  I do not have any tips today but I have something just as good (and to some it will be better than my tips, I am sure).  I have a way for you to get TWO free samples of Shout Products to help you keep your family looking their best.

Should I sell....or keep and look fabulous? Diane von Furstenberg

I could not believe that I found this label in my size.  Now do not get too excited, it is not a wrap dress.  If it was, I would not even question keeping it.  It is, however, a cute polka dot dress in black and hot pink (a favorite of mine).  I will guess that it is vintage, but not dated too far back...maybe vintage 1980s?  Looks like something an aunt of mine would have worn back then.

What makes me question keeping it is the label.  Diane von Furstenberg.  I love this designer and was very surprised to find something in my size.  Her dresses sell very well on eBay and I could really make a very nice return on investment.

I know I do not have to decide right now...this dress will surely sell pretty good for awhile.  I just wanted to know what my fashionable followers might think.

Summer Reading List: Welcome to the World, Baby Girl by Fannie Flagg

Welcome to the World, Baby Girl! written by Fannie Flagg.  This is the same lady who wrote an all time favorite, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe: A Novel. This book, however, was no Fried Green Tomatoes.  I am not going to go so far as to say it was a rotten tomato, but ...well...it was not one I can say I "could not put down".

From Publishers Weekly, "Because so much of Flagg's third novel takes place in the 1970s media-celebrity echelons of New York City, it doesn't offer the regional and historical color and texture of its predecessor, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe. I just did not get hooked in enough to CARE about Dena.  I cared about Aunt Elner in Elwood Springs, I enjoyed Neighbor Dorthy, for the short time we got to spend with her.  I could not stand Sookie, or whatever the "best friend's" name was....and I think she gives all of us sorority gals a bad name (we are not all that silly...esp when we are in our 30s). Oh...another character that gave me the willies...Gary, Dena's first shrink who fell in love with her and became a stalker....Flagg tried to make him seem sweet but he comes across to this reader as a freakie stalker and pathetic.  I loved Dena's other Shrink, Dr. Diggers...but we do not see her enough to keep my attention. 

My most favorite character was Dena's mother.  I would LOVE to read a novel about HER.  Her struggles and reasons behind her actions.  I am not going to go too much into that for fear of giving away too much to those who might still want to read this.  When we finally get into all the why's, where's, how's of Dena's mother, it is at the end of the book and so rushed.  We spend chapter after chapter reading about Dena's life as a media sensation and news woman...and how beautiful she is...that the ending is so rushed.

I spend a good deal of the book wondering why certain things were included....it does come full circle in a hurried way but there is so much muck, in the meantime, that I forgot I even cared by the time Flagg gets to it again.

There is one thing that I LOVED....Flagg disposes of a character in the most unique and enjoyable way I have read in a long time.  It was so unexpected.  Not that the character comes to a bad ending, he was bad....but HOW.  It is wonderful.  If you want to read JUST that part, skip to the very last chapter and look for the part about a "storm in NYC".

Welcome to the World, Baby Girl!, spanned quiet a bit of time in a mish mas kind of way, however most of it was set in the late 70's in NYC.  But Flagg fell short in painting a picture of 1970's NYC.  it could have been anytime, with the exception of the references to Dena being one of the only women in the news business, etc.  I would have loved to picture NYC in the late 70's, like there was no mistake of the timeline in Fried Green Tomatoes.  I have not given up on Fannie Flagg, I will read her other books, give her a chance to make it up to me.  I loved Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe so much, I owe it to her.

I will give my copy away to anyone who wants it (the first one to post that they want it gets it)....please be in the US.  Or you can just hop on over to Amazon and get you a copy for a cheap price.

eBay Auctions going on this week: Lots of TORRID, CHICO'S and more...

As a full figured curvy GODDESS...(LOL)...I want to look my best and wear fashionable and sometimes trendy outfits.  One of the most fun places to shop and find adorable clothing, my size, is Torrid.  However, it is a pretty pricey place....so off to eBay we go!!!!

I have a few Torrid skirts listed this week and I really REALLY want to send them off to a better home.

This is my Daddy when he was VERY young.  I wish he was here with us so I could wish him a very Happy Father's Day.  We all miss him very much.
