Such Pretty BEBE...such a low price

I have been having a good deal of luck lately.  As I have stated, in other posts, I love the Bebe label.  I always have that as inspiration when I start a diet...if I can get down to Bebe sizing, I will splurge on an outfit.  Hasn't happened, yet.  Oh well...I can just offer the cuties I find to other thru my eBay shop.

I also have been finding some other labels that work well with many figure types, Ann Taylor, Eileen Fisher, Ann Klein, Torrid, Lane Bryant / Venezia, Talbots, J. Jill, Miss Me, Ambercrombie....etc etc.

What I can not give away to friends, family....my teeny tiny niece....I put on eBay and since most of my family and friends (with the exception of mentioned niece) are womanly....well...I have more than enough to keep me listing.

Amazing Jakes Collin Creek Mall in Plano, Texas

Last Sunday I took my girls (Jordan and her BFF Sarah) to Amazing Jakes in Collin Creek Mall here is Plano, Texas.  We had a great time and took a lot of photos.

The place did not have much to offer in terms of rides for the teenagers, just go carts and Bumper cars.  They did have a small game area and Lazer Tag, however (we did not play in these areas).  There was also Mini Golf, which was rather lame compared to most other Mini Golf courses and Rock Climbing.  The Rock Climbing was more geared for children as Sarah tried it and her legs were too long for the it to be much of a challenge, she just kept getting kind of tangled up (but she is a tall drink of water, so maybe if Jordan tried it, with her shortness, she would have been more challenged).

While Sarah braved the rock climbing wall, Jordan had a characture done.  Since she just made the High School Cheer Squad, she wanted her characture to reflect this.

In order to get into the place you have to buy a buffet pass.  The games are all an extra charge.  It was not a bad deal as we were hungry by the time we were ready to leave and the food was good.  They had pasta dishes, a salad bar, baked potato bar, soups, and several varieties of pizza.  Also, the drink refills are unlimited so we probably got our monies worth just in drinks.  There were also cookies, ice cream and rice krispie treats for snacks or dessert.

I believe the unlimited pass to the rides was an extra 10 dollars and the games took tokens.  All of this should be double checked on their websiteIndividual rides could be purchased, as well.

All in all we had a great couple of hours.  The girls had fun riding the go carts, taking pics, and flirting with all the teen boys who worked the rides.  They also had fun being silly and riding the smaller rides (that were really for younger children).  They were such a hit with the teen boy-workers that they let them ride without waiting in line, like THEIR version of being the pretty girls in lines out side of the clubs (ya know, where the bouncer lets you in the club because you are pretty?....we call it "pretty girl privileges"....might not be fair, but that's life).

Speaking of "pretty girls" I think my niece is perfect.  But she is MY niece and I am supposed to feel this way.  She is the sweetest girl(when she is not in the hellish teen mood). She is beautiful inside, too.  She volunteers, she loved going to work with me when I worked with Alzheimer's victims and was so good with them.  She is smart, too.  Makes very good grades.  See?  I told you she was perfect...LOL.  A little spoiled, too.  She is an only child, grandchild, niece, etc etc in the family (for now...).  It is hard not to spoil her....she is so much fun to be around.  Now that she is in her teens, spoiling her can get pretty costly, however.

Here is Jordan rocking a pair of thrifted Ambercrombie pants that she dug out of my eBay stash.

Cute Child's Craft / Game from Martha Stewart Crafts: Checker Board

This is such a cute checker game that I had to share it.  If your April is full of showers you will need some indoor fun for your little ones...here is a cute craft that can later be a game played over and over...

Kids who learn how to play checkers will always have something to do on a rainy day. Kids who make their own portable checkerboard will have a game to play almost anywhere. Collect bottle caps in opposing colors (you'll need 12 for each side), or use tempera or acrylic paints to paint the tops of mismatched caps with a color of your choice. Bottle caps stack easily, making for very regal kings.

Checkers How-to

Using pinking shears, cut a square of canvas that's about 12 by 12 inches. (The shears will protect edges from fraying and give the board a decorative flair.) With a knife, slice a plastic art eraser into a square that's 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 inches; this will be the stamp. Begin by stamping a single square in one corner of the board; stamp a second catercorner to the first, then add a third square along the border, catercorner from the second and a full square-space from the first. Continue to fill the board; your finished board will have eight squares (four stamped and four blank) in each row and column.

Good Bye Elizabeth Taylor!!!! RIP

Although the only movies I have seen of her's were made YEARS ago, she will be missed.  Her movies and legend will live on and it is not like I really knew her....but her passing has really made me quiet sad.   We celebrated her life last night by watching Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (reviewed here...).  Since I just did a post for her birthday a few weeks ago, I will just honor her with a few photos and prayer that she rests in peace.

Purim Celebration ~ Party on the Patio ~ Oh Yeeaaaah!!!!

We had such a great time last night at our Purim Celebration.  Family and friends and LOTS of food and SPIRITS.  I think we had every imaginable kind of alcohol.  David set up a bar on the patio and I had another one for drinks of a more "signature" variety (oh and Mimi's much requested Sweet Tea was stationed on my little bar).  The drinks I had planned were very girlie and decadent, COTTON CANDY MARTINI (I get a tooth ache just thinking about how sweet this drink is) and then a concoction of pineapple juice, mango juice, and Malibu Rum topped off with whipped cream.  This was my favorite drink of the evening and oh so not Weight Watchers approved.  David had a variety of beer, lots of it, and then like I said, just about every hard liquor one might want.

The food was delectable, too....a mixture of good old fashioned BBQ, tex-mex, and all kinds of junk food.  I think everyone had their fill and then went back for more.  Of course the desserts were yummie, too.  My mom made home made strawberry cake and brownies and a friend brought a huge box of baklava. I tried my hand at making hamentashen and they were a big hit.

David told the story of Purim and we all boo'ed and hissed Hamen and cheered for Mordecai.  I think we all had fun doing that but the most fun was had by Zoe.

I am still tired from the celebration.  We saw our last guest leave at 5am Sunday morning.  Jordan and Sarah stayed the night and we were up, going again, Sunday.  It was a great weekend.

So by now I am posting this a bit late.  I have been blog neglectful this month.  March has indeed been madness.  Very busy month.

Happy Late Purim,

eBay, thrifting, and general ramblings.....

My blog posting has really slowed down.  I seem to be able to have one addiction at a time and right now, it is eBay....with a mild obsession with Weight Watchers out of necessity.

I have quiet a bit listed on eBay and am very excited about some of the labels.  I have 2 Bebe items and that is making me dizzy with giddiness.  I have had an obsession with Bebe for years.  If I was a size 2, these would never make an appearance on the net...but I am not and will never be a 2.  Have no desire, thank goodness as my body just would not take it.  I will post about that obsession sometime, I am sure, but right now let us settle with the fact that Bebe is HOT HOT HOT.

I also have quiet a bit of Ann Taylor and most of what has sold has been from that label.   I can see that this will be a label I snatch up when I see it at the thrifts.  Nothing has sold for more than 12 bucks but considering I only pay 1 to 3 dollars for a skirt, capris, or slacks....that is a pretty good turn around.

Also, I have lots of my own plus size clothing from my heavier days listed.  That is flying like hot cakes.  Venezia, Lane Bryant, and Torrid....not to mention I will have some Ellen Tracy, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfieger, etc listed soon.

If you have a garage sale in your furture....try selling the clothing on eBay first...you might be surprised.  I had a sale a few seasons ago and no one even blinked an eye to my clothes for 50 cents....now I am selling them for 10 dollars plus.

I am off to thrift today.  I have dreams of more Anthropologie (have a skirt on ebay right now...and it is not going for much), more Ann Taylor, maybe some Abercrombie.  I went yesterday to the Goodwill closest to my home and there was not much there at all.  There is a consignment store across the street and I have a suspicion that they make frequent stops there.  It is in a pretty upscale area (well the outskirts) so there is not other reason for this Goodwill to never have anything in regards to good labels.  Smart consignment store, if they are in fact snagging all the goodies.  Might just be a coincidence but it is hard for me to believe since I have found goodies at all of the other Goodwills in town.  No hard feelings for this shop as they have a great section of Plus size things and they are not too pricey for good second hand clothing (that is not from a traditional thrift shop).

Weight watchers is going well for me.  I have my weigh in tomorrow and will share more after that.  Please tune in Friday as I am sure Thursday night will pass by without a post.  We have someone coming in to discuss the redecorating of my kitchen....SWOON.  I love my hubbie for many reasons but this is really getting me going.  I am so excited.

Now off to the races....be back later to tell you about my treasures.

Seven Young Blondes

Seven Young Blondes

I was waiting tables in a noisy lobster restaurant in Maine when a vacationing Southerner stumped me with a drink order. I approached the bartender. "Have you ever heard of a drink called 'Seven Young Blondes'?" I asked. He admitted he'd never heard of it, and grabbed a drink guidebook to look it up. Unable to find the recipe, he then asked me to go back and tell the patron that he'd be happy to make the drink if he could list the ingredients for him. "Sir," I asked the customer, "can you tell me what's in that drink?"

He looked at me like I was crazy. "It's wine," he said, pronouncing his words carefully, "Sauvignon blanc."

Advertising

Driving my friend Steve and his girlfriend to the airport, we passed a billboard showing a bikini-clad beauty holding a can of beer. Steve's girlfriend glanced up at it and announced, "I suppose if I drank a six-pack of that brand, I'd look like her."
"No," Steve corrected. "If I drank a six-pack, you'd look like her."

Being Reasonable

A sign posted at a local pub reads
Be safe: Don't drink and drive. But please still drink.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!

Don't Worry....The Laundry got done... And another give-a-way notice

I can not believe I did not post my laundry day tips.  I just let the day get away from me and did not post.  Oh well...we all need a break.  I did not get a break for the actual laundry, however.

By the way....you should hop on over to Faith, Hope, and Charity Shopping to see what they are giving away.  There are some lovely craft project kits and other things.  To check it out, visit the blog.

Outfit Post and a New - Old Phone

I have been so busy this week that I have not been able to check in as often as I am used to.  I am selling some things on eBay and so far so good with that.  I have not sold everything listed but I am happy with the outcome, so far.  I get pretty excited when there is a bidding "war" over something.  I have not had many of those and well...what I call a "war" might leave some questioning...I am such a newbie that a "war" to me is when more than one person is bidding.  LOL.

Anyway...on to my new goodies.  A few weeks ago I won this phone in my own bidding "war" on eBay.  I got it for 10 BUCKS!!!!  SO happy about that.  I have seen them at antique malls, stores, etc for about 5 times that and going up from there.  It looks perfect in our kitchen and it hides a very ugly wall phone jack.  I have been looking for something to hide that for awhile.  We do not use it so the phone is just ornamental.

My dress is a very thrifty gem.  It was bought band spankin new from Lane Bryant ...so how can THAT be thrifty, you ask?  Well let me tell you.  Last week they had a sale of 40% off everything in the store, including clearance.  The dress was on the clearance rack and marked down so low that it ended up being 13.00 (and some change, I forget the exact amount).  It was normally 89.99 (I think...around that, again, I forget).  Anyway...I know I got a great deal and I love this dress.  David loved it too....so all the better.

Dress:  Lane Bryant Clearance
Shoes: just plain old from my collection
stockings:  Fredericks of Hollywood
Cardigan:  Lane Bryant

Phone:  eBay 10 DOLLARS!!!!
